Lovely Blogger Thursday

Caleb would like to introduce you to a new bloggy idea.

Lovely Blogger Thursday!!

I saw an idea like this on another blog a while ago (can't remember the name of the blog sorry).  I have decided to start this new trend for my blog every week as well. Each week I will feature a favorite bloggy friend of mine.  Basically ask them a few questions, and link you to their blog so you can check them out as well.

For the first Lovely Blogger Thursday I would like to introduce you to the Jones Family and their blog Cleared for Takeoff

This is Katie the author, mother to Ellie, and my first Lovely Blogger!

1. When and why did you start blogging?  I started blogging right after my husband I got married in May of 2008. A friend of mine had a blog at the time, and I thought it was the neatest way to chronicle your life! I have always been into writing, and for me blogging is a creative outlet and a form of therapy.
2. What is your love story with you hubby? How did you meet, when did you get engaged?

My husband and I met on myspace of all places! I had just gotten out of a rough relationship and decided I needed to find a good guy, so I "shopped" myspace! (This was back when myspace was THE thing). I came across his profile and it had a picture of him laughing. He looked like he loved life. So I emailed him and and simply said, "You seem like an interesting person." He emailed me back and we decided to meet in person a couple weeks later. We had dinner in downtown Nashville and then walked around Centennial Park in the pitch dark. I knew that somewhere in the park there was an old fighter jet on display, so we began to search for it. We spotted it from about 100 yards away and Josh teased, "If I can tell you what kind of jet that is, you have to give me a kiss..." I thought there was NO WAY he would be able to get it right from that far away so I agreed. He looked and looked through the darkness and finally decided on his answer, an F86 Fighter Jet. We held hands and walked to the plane and there on the plaque it said "F86". We had our first kiss right there under the wings! It was magical.

We got engaged on our one year dating anniversary. Josh took me back to the park where we had our first date and proposed to me there. We got married six months later in May and it was the most fun wedding I have ever been to!

3. What is your #1 must have, couldn't live without baby item?

The thing I could not live without is my video monitor. It is so great to be able to see what Ellie is doing when she is crying in her crib. You can find it here. http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Handheld-Monitor-Screen/dp/B0007OD8SU

4. What is your favorite hobby?

Ohhh this is a hard one. I'm not a single hobby kinda gal. I usually just get on "kicks". Right now I am loving digital scrapbooking. I have created a book for Ellie and her grandmothers that you can view on my blog. I love doing anything crafty because it lets me flex my creative muscles.

5. What is your daily schedule with your baby?

You will notice that most of my activities include only Ellie and Me. That’s because her dad travels for work and is out of town about 4 days per week. If you would like to see a schedule while Josh is home just sprinkle his name into most of these activites : )

  • 6am: Ellie wakes up. I bring her downstairs to my room and feed her a bottle, then we play while I drink my coffee and watch the news in bed.
  • 7am: Ellie and I go upstairs and I put her in the swing while I do things on the computer, etc.

  • 7:45ish: Ellie goes down for a nap. She only sleeps for 45 minutes, I can set my clock to it! While she is sleeping I do more computer work and get all my stuff ready for the gym. I pack a diaper bag for her, a spare bottle, my hair dryer, flat iron, makeup, flip flops, towel wrap, and clothes for the day.

  • 9:30am: Arrive at they gym, drop Ellie off in the nursery and head over to aerobics class. They keep her for a maximum of 2 hours so after my gym class I take a shower and get ready for the day. The locker room is really nice!

  • 11:30am: Pick Ellie up from the nursery, get in the car and run errands. By "errands" I mean our daily walks around Target and TJ Maxx. We usually don’t buy anything, we just walk around and kill some time.

  • 1pm: Arrive at home and do various things. Ellie will nap for 45 minutes and then as soon as she wakes up we play the "go back to sleep game" where I pat her in her crib while trying to avoid her smiles. This lasts until my legs go numb from bending over (about 15 minutes) and some days she will take an additional 45 minute nap. We are working on our nap skills : )
  • 3pm-5pm: We play on the floor, watch movies, swing, do whatever.

  • 5:30pm: She will usually take another 45 minute evening nap.

  • 6:30 pm: I start her bedtime routine which consists of a bath, lotion rubdown, and pajamas.

  • 7pm: I put Ellie to bed while she is awake and she goes right to sleep! (I know, I have a REALLY good baby)

  • 7pm-10pm: This is MY time! I fix myself some dinner (usually cereal) and watch my dvr'd shows, talk to Josh on the phone, and read a little before going to bed. I try to make sure I am asleep by 10 so that I am fresh for the next day.

6. What is your #1 piece of advice for a new momma?

My best piece of advice is to pick a parenting theory and stick to it! We followed the "Babywise" routine and it has worked for us. There are several different theories out there and it really doesn’t matter which one you choose, as long as it works for you and your family. Do NOT try to just "wing it" and think that your baby will thrive. Babies need structure and and the more you practice the same routine, the better they will be. Because of Babywise, I can put Ellie down for a nap awake and she will soothe herself to sleep.

7. If you could give your baby one piece of advice to remember forever, what would it be?

That Jesus hung on the cross for her sins. He took away all of the things she has ever done wrong just because He loves her THAT MUCH.

This is the Start

This is your Heart

This is the day you were born

This is the Sun
These are your Lungs

This is the day you were born

And I am ALWAYS

Always

Always Yours

Switchfoot Always

I Have Been Waiting My Entire Life

To Beat Mario, and tonight WE DID IT!!! My hubby and I have been playing Super Mario for Wii nightly for about a month now, and tonight we defeated Bowser!!! It was so exciting! Just as exciting as I always knew it would be!! It is so great that technology has advanced enough to actually be able to SAVE your Mario game.  Remember how frustrating it used to be when you would see the words Game Over, and then you would be moved back to world 1?  I am just so excited!! The Princess and Mario rode off into the sunset in a hot air ballon at the end of the game, and a secret world was opened up!! So fun.

It was so great to actually get to spend time with hubby tonight.  He has been working so hard and long lately, and I really feel as though we only saw him for a total of maybe 10 hours this past week.  I miss him when he is gone.  He surprised me and came home early tonight.  I cooked a new dinner, and we playing Mario, Monopoly Deal and played with little man! Caleb just loves his daddy so much.  Now we are watching the UK game!! It has been a wonderful day.

Caleb is learning how to scoot towards toys now on his belly. He is really starting to enjoy belly time, and I feel as though all of my latest pictures are of him playing on his belly! He is just growing up so quick. Before I know it he will be crawling!!

Sydney and Bella were very excited to see Daddy as well!

Give Away!!

Erin over at The Williamson Family blog has an awesome giveaway going on for reaching 50 followers.  She is giving away a free bloggy makeover! I have noted before how crafty she is, and she is always changing up the face of her personal blog.  I on the other hand am not crafty, nor computer savy, and therefore my blog needs help!! I am really really really hoping to win this giveaway, but if you to are interested hop on over and join in the give away fun!

Also, on a side note I have decided to stop blogging on my other blog for a while. I feel as though I personally need to focus on God and what he is teaching me a little more for a while without sharing.  Thank you for those of you who have been reading, and I will still post on what God is teaching me when I feel the calling to do so.  Also, Duet Diva is doing an awesome yearly Bible Study called the Journey! Check it out.

I am still willing to pray for you who have requests.  I pray for many blogging friends daily, and you all come to my mind all of the time.  Please e-mail me at sarah_dailyshine@yahoo.com with any requests or questions.

"I thank God through Jesus Christ for each one of you.  God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by telling others the Good News about his Son."  Romans 1:8-9

Rainy Sunday

I ventured to church for the first Sunday without Nick since we had Caleb.  I got up, got Caleb dressed, and he, grammy and I were out the door right on time.  Unfortunately, it was a rainy rainy morning, and little man is just getting so heavy to carry in his car seat.  That is when we really need daddy around.  I was walking very slow in the rain and putting my guns to work :).  I swear that child is going to break my arm before he is big enough to walk.

Church was good. Caleb just looked around and smiled at people during worship, but once the sermon came he decided to get loud. I handed him his binky, he just spit that out. I gave him his rainbow fish to chew on, but he decided to talk while he was chewing.  I decided to move to the comfort room with him, and let him play while I listened to the sermon.  In the comfort room there was a little 3 month old baby girl who Caleb LOVED.  He kept smiling, and talking to her, and he just stared and stared.  The daddy was with her, and he was like "listen here son, you and I need to have a talk".  It was cute.

We had planned to go shopping after church, but it was just so ugly that we came back home.  It has been another lazy day, but Caleb is really practicing his rolling and is getting good at it.  He is just growing up so fast.

Look how adorable he looked in his little church outfit.

A Day in the Life....Not much going on

This week/weekend I have not had to much to blog about.  We were in Lex until Thursday, and my hubby has been there all weekend.  I have basically hung out with Caleb and my grandmother the past couple of days, cleaned, cuddled with little man, and made some pretty awesome chicken soup tonight.  Other than that nothing to eventful.  I am hoping to find some good blogging material for this next week. If not, I will just post pictures of little man for the grandparents to see, and read about others eventful weeks.  Anway, today is just going to be a few pictures that I snapped last week while Nick and Caleb were playing.  Caleb loves his new band toy his papaw White got him for Christmas.  He loves to grab onto the microphone that lights up and try to eat it :).

Who Won the Contest?

The Chunky Monkey Contest That Is

Caleb has finally outgrown his friend Ashton who is one month younger than him.  Remember this picture?

Caleb was one month and Ashton was 5 days.  Ashton was bigger even then.

Since that time they have always been neck and neck with size, but Ashton has always been a wee bit larger.  However, Ashton has thinned out and shot up, and little man is the new Chunky monkey on the block.

They were so cute playing together.  One would cry the other would cry.

They would look at each other.Caleb tried to eat Ashton's hand, and Ashton (who is already rolling all over the place, and who I swear will be crawling by next month) kept rolling ontop of him.  Soo funny.

On a side note, Caleb ROLLED OVER TONIGHT!! From his back to his belly that is.  Daddy and I were moving all around him, making funny noises, and trying to get him to roll, and finally he did it!! Big boy!! Daddy was proud!

He also held his bottle through an entire feeding!

"Let the Little Children Come to Me"

This morning was Caleb's baby dedication at church.  My family came in last night, and it was a weekend filled with family fun.  Pedicures, shopping for the perfect outfit for Caleb to wear, dinner, church, and lunch. This morning Nick and I, along with about 7 other couples and our family and church participated in Caleb's dedication.  It is my desire that he learn if nothing else that Jesus Loves Him.  Sure he is going to mess up in life, he is not going to be perfect, and I never want to shove religion down his throat. However, I hope that he just understands the simple message of love, and understands that God has a wonderful plan for his life.

Our family picture (my hair is going crazy in this)

Caleb's meemaw bought him this awesome soccer chair from Homegoods that I fell in love with!! Thanks meemaw :).
