Pool Days

I want to begin by saying that I hope everyone had an amazing holiday weekend, and that you were able to soak up the beautiful sunshine.  We had a great time playing outside this weekend, and I was so beyond thankful for the glorious weather.

We had a great time on Saturday at the zoo, and hubby and I had a wonderful date night.  Sunday was just as great.  We decided to put up the pool in the backyard, and play with Caleb.  I love this pool. It is large enough for adults to lay in, and I am planning on taking full advantage of that this summer during nap time.  The water was frigid, but Caleb had so much fun splashing around. Hubby and I had an ongoing splash game going with the ice cold water. I would like to report that I WON!! I tricked him!! I told him to hand Caleb the bucket of water, and when he turned I poured an entire bucket over his head.  He could not get me back because I had Mckinlee in my arms.  It was hilarious!!!

stinker :)

Monday, we had a cookout at my in laws, and we went swimming in their new above ground pool.  I think we were maybe inside a total of one hour yesterday, and it was so much fun.  Caleb loved running through the yard, playing on the play set (he counts when he goes up steps now....ooonnneee...twwoooo...freee....orrr..). He was not a huge fan of the pool yesterday, but he did enjoy throwing balls in the O float :).

He was so worn out! (He was also wearing a size ONE diaper and a swim diaper together. I realized we had no more with us, so we had to improvise until we went home). I can't believe the size 1 fastened.

Today, we headed to the Y with Brit/Presley and Rachel/James.  The babies had fun running around, and little miss enjoyed napping in her stroller beside me.  I love Caleb's timid personality.  I think that God blessed him/me with that. Presley and James were so adventurous, and wanted to go to all parts of the pool.  Caleb however, never wanted to leave my side, and if I sat he would sit and play, and he would not go far without me.  This is such a blessing with two children. We needed to stay beside the stroller, and he was perfectly content staying with mama.  I love that about him.

Just for comparison...Presley and Caleb last summer

Presley and Caleb this summer.  They grew up to fast :(

Zoo Post #1

Yesterday, hubby had a fun filled family day planned!! He had planned to take us to the zoo during the day, and then he and I and another couple were going to have date night that night.  I looked forward to yesterday all week.  Caleb and I read lots of zoo books, practiced our animal sounds, and prepared for our fun filled day.  I just knew Caleb would love the zoo, and he did!!

Every animal we saw he would just stare at and point with amazement.  Of course he did do the scared sign for some as expected (he is all about being scared these days).  However, all in all he loved it.

The polar bears and monkeys gave us quite a show.  Two polar bears were playing in the water.  They were wrestling, and jumping off the side onto each other. It was hilarious.  I have never seen them be so active.  The zoo babies were out, and there was one baby monkey named Clara that I was in LOVE with. She was so tiny, active, and cuddly to her mama.

I had to laugh at one monkey family. They were all eating, and the daddy was sitting up above the mama and baby taking his time and enjoying his food.  The mama was trying to eat with one hand, while trying to keep her baby monkey by her side with the other. Finally, she had to put down her food and hold her baby to calm it down.  Sound familiar??  Even animal mamas never get to finish a meal.  :)

After lunch we took Caleb to the childrens zoo to play and pet animals.  He loved the play ground, and actually was not as shy as I thought he would be with the goats.

It was a GREAT day! We all had a great day, including little miss, who of course slept through most of it :).
(Don't worry we tightened her straps).

Pretty Pretty

Mckinlee has tons of clothes, and we do not go out of the house enough for her to wear all of them.  I have been trying to take pictures of her in a few of the outfits that family members have given her.  Here she is in a dress from grammy.  (I know this is a boring post to all non-family members) sorry :).

Unfortunately, she decided she was done rather quickly!

The Story of the White Dress

Nick's grandparents sent Mckinlee the most adorable white dress shortly after she was born. I have been so anxious for her to grow into it.  We attended a wedding last Friday night, and since she was finally big enough to wear it, I decided it would be the perfect wedding attire.  That is after I checked to make sure that it was okay for a baby to wear white to a wedding.

Anyway, my husband was in the wedding, and so it was my responsibility to get both children dressed, loaded up in the car, and make it to the church on time.  Needless to say, pictures before the wedding were a big fat FAIL.  Pictures during the reception were a FAIL.  After the wedding the kids were asleep so no pictures.  All this being said,  I only had one picture of Mckinlee in the white dress, and she was not a happy camper.

Today, I decided I would dress both kids up and try again. I was determined to get some pictures of Mckinlee in her dress, and I need some new ones of my very busy little man.  Pictures with Caleb were a no go.  It was to close to nap, he was mad the sun was in his eyes, and every time I would point the camera in his direction he would scream.  So, I have this one picture (binky in mouth), and I will just have to try again later with him.

I was able to get a few of little bundle, but not as many as I wanted.  Oh well, she looked adorable all the same!
