Do the Potty Dance

We have officially started the process of potty training in our household. It is a process I have mixed feelings about i admit. I will be so happy to have one child out of diapers, but I know that it will add a lot of extra work to me as a mother. The idea of taking 2 young kids into a public stall gives me anxiety through the roof. I know there will be accidents in public, I know I will have to pack more than I already do for outings, and I know there will be days when I wonder why we gave up diapers. However, 2 in diapers is expensive, Caleb is showing interest, and we might as well give it a shot.

Today we began the 3 day potty training method. I did not purchase the book, but I just read about it online. Basically, you allow your child to run around naked from the waist down around the house and everytime they start to potty you rush them to their potty seat. they swear that in 3 days your kid will catch on...

maybe? maybe not, but it is worth a shot. This morning I pulled out the carpet cleaner, set up the potty and stripped Caleb of his pants. I kept telling him to go to the potty when he needed to pee. I was folding clothes in his room, and he came through the door carrying his potty. he said "pee potty", sat down and peed!!!!! Genius! we sang, hugged, poured his pee in the toilet, washed hands, and he received a candy. I was so excited. I thought it was a fluke but after lunch he said "pee potty" ran to his potty, sat down and pooped!!! Genius!!!

So far he only had one accident on the tile! 2 for 1 is good for me! when I tried to put a pull up on him for nap he said "mom no pee potty". he did not want the pull up on at all.

I know we have only just started, and there will be good days and bad, but I am oh so proud of him!

Way to go Caleb! I am a little jealous!
I know I should start soon but for my own sanity I keep putting it off. We are so busy and we will be traveling that having to run to the potty every 2 seconds doesn't sound fun right now.... But I know I need to jump on the potty training train. :) maybe after all of our travels and we are snowed in for the winter?
