Movie Night
So this week has been crazy with the snow storm. I was so lucky to get to play hookie with my husband yesturday and cuddle in bed. We don't get to do that very often, and I was so happy to have him with me during the day. Usually I am up for going somewhere on every weekend night, but I am actually excited about staying indoors tonight. I am waiting for Nick to get home with my craving of the night "Pizza Hut". It is so funny because Northern Kentucky has a lot of local pizza shops such as Snappy and La Rosa's etc, and Pizza Huts are not easy to find. I am more accustomed to Pizza Hut, Dominos etc. Anyways I sent Nick on a wild goose chase to find a pizza hut for tonight, and of course they do not deliver to our home. Therefore, my lovely husband is picking it up for us. Once he gets here I plan on cuddling on the couch, pigging out on pizza, and watching a movie. I could think of nothing better to do with my night. I sure do hope he gets here quick because I am starving.
This snow is out of control. I went back to work today, and to my surprise I learned that we are suppose to have another snow storm this weekend. They a predicting possibly a foot, according to one of my co workers. It is so crazy. The funny thing is Pikeville, my home town, has not been hit by the snow storm. For some reason it always seemed that Pikeville had a bubble over it because we never had any of the major storms.
As far as the baby goes, he/she is definetely growing. I swear I feel bigger and bigger everyday. I just want to really show so people stop telling me it is all in my mind. It is definetely not in my mind, because my pants do not fit at all! The baby actually woke me up last night, well kind of. I woke up starving at 5 am, and I could not go back to sleep. I don't think I have ever been so hungry. I need to start keeping snacks on my nightstand apparantely. According to books I have read they say that mothers carrying boys have a huge increased appetite, and I can say that is definetely true with me. We will see in a few weeks if my motherly instinct that I am having a boy proves true.
Please continue to pray for my cousin Matt, and for the health of the little baby growing inside of me.

12 Weeks and living in a snow storm
First of all I am thankful today for Matt's safe flight to Atlanta. He will begin rehabilitation there, and I am so excited for his recovery. Please continue to pray for him. Nick, baby and I are now at the 12 week point. In a way the last 6 weeks have flown and in a way they have drug on. It is crazy couting your time in pregnancy weeks. I have to admit I am a little excited/freaked out about the small bump appearing on my belly. Just this week I have started to have trouble buttoning my pants. Even my loose ones. I discovered a little band called the Bella Band the other day, and it has been my life saver. It is a little band that fits over your pre pregnancy pants, and allows you to leave them unbuttoned. It was the perfect solution since I am still to tiny for maternity pants.
The baby this week is developing fingernails, has a fully functioning liver and kidneys, is about 2 1/2 inches long and about 3 to 5 ounces. It is crazy that something so tiny is making my belly bigger than it has ever been.
This snow storm today has been crazy. I of course had to work today since I am working at a day care, and it takes a natural disaster for day cares to close. Luckily they will be closed tomorrow. I have not seen this much snow in so long, and it was so hard to resist the urge to go sledding this afternoon. Man all the things you can not do when you are pregnant. My dog Bella was so funny in the snow this morning. I let her outside to use the restroom and she stepped into the snow, and it covered her to her back. She just froze and started barking because she did not know what to do. It was soo funny. She obviously was not excited about the cold, white stuff surrounding her. Please keep Nick in your prayers tonight, he will be plowing parking lots throughout the night.
Also, I am so excited that one of my best friends since kindergarten is expecting a baby two weeks after me. It is so exciting because I was born two weeks after her, her sister was born two weeks after my sister, and her baby will be born two weeks after mine. It has been fun talking "pregnancy" together, and I am so excited for our babies to meet eachother. We keep saying that I will have a boy and she will have a girl and they can be boyfriend and girlfriend.
I am so excited to find out for sure what I am having. My next appointment in Feb. 10, but I think they are waiting until the appointment after that to discover the sex of the baby. I just can't shake the feeling that it is a boy. In fact Nick's cousin just gave us three bags of baby boy hand me down clothes from her little boy, so if it ends up being a girl I will be returning those.

160-165 Beats Per Minute
Today was a very exiting day for Nick and I, and it was one that began very early this morning. I awoke at 5 am to get ready for my 8 am appointment because I was so excited/nervous/anxious. We arrived at the doctors office at 7:15 to fill out paper work, but to our surprise they did not unlock the doors until about 7:50. It was actually funny sitting in the truck, listening to a funny radio show and laughing with my husband. We do not usually get to have quality time like that in the morning and it put a smile on my face. Once inside the doctor we filled out the paper work and waited until 8:30 to go back. Once back, the nurse asked us various questions, performed examinations, and finally we got to try to hear the heartbeat. It was so funny because I was literally holding my breath when she placed the machine on my stomach. I wanted to be able to hear the heartbeat so bad. It probably took her a good minute to find it, but once she did Nick nor I could stop smiling. It was so amazing to actually realize that there really is a baby in there. According to old wives the baby should be a girl based on the heartbeat, but I still feel as though it is a boy. The doctor agreed with me, she stated that when she walked in the room and looked at me she thought that I was going to have a boy. We will just have to wait and see. My next appointment is February 10, and I can not wait.
This week the baby is 1 1/2 inches long (about the size of a prune). The bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles. The elbows on the baby's arms are already working, and tiny buds of teeth are forming under the baby's gums. One funny fact if the baby is a boy he is already producing testosterone this week.
I am interested as to when I am going to begin "showing". I was surprised when they weighed me at the office this morning because I have actually lost one pound. I have not been sick throughout my first trimester, and trust me I have been eating a lot! It was so funny. I was working with two girls today who are both 13 weeks pregnant and they have little bumps. Hopefully mine will come soon. I am not going to lie I am actually quite excited about it.

9 weeks
These past few weeks have definetely proven to be more than I had originally bargained for. On Christmas Day around 4:15 my first cousin Matt was involved in a car accident in Pikeville. Nick and I were spending Christmas with his family, and therefore I did not learn the true details of the accident until about 8:30 that night. As soon as we found out that Matt had been air transported to Tennessee, Nick and I began traveling to be with the family at the hospital. Gratefully, he has surpassed all the doctors initial expectations and is continuing to improve daily. I can not wait until he is allowed to wake up, and we can talk to him once more, and encourage him through his recovery process.
Strangely throughout this situation there were times that I forgot that I was pregnant. The different emotions and thoughts were enough to keep me busy. However, everyone around me reminded me to "take care of that baby", and presented me with more than enough to eat constantly while at the hospital. We are home for this week, and are working, and next Tuesday is our first doctor visit. I am excited, and I hope the baby cooroperates so we can hear the heartbeat.
I had not been on my blog since the accident, and I was so excited to see that my baby now has fingers and toes. YAY! It is crazy how much they change week by week. I am kind of getting back to the point of waiting for the next week to come once again. During the holidays I was so distracted that the last two pregnancy weeks flew by. However, they seem to be slowing down once again.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones because I have not experienced morning sickness very much at all. I have experienced a little nausea, and I have had a few upset stomachs related to my prenatal vitamins. However, other than that I am still just tired, and I have an increased appetitie.
Please continue to keep Matt in all of your prayers.
