Caleb 18 Months
Sweet boy you turned 18 months yesterday. The day that has been in my mind for the past 8 months. You are now a whole year and 1/2 old, and you are the age you will be when you become a big brother. Wow. I can't believe we are here. I am trying to take in every moment with you, and I am also reflecting on our year 1/2 or life together. I know you will not remember the time when it was just the three of us, and this saddens me in a way. I want you to realize how loved you are. I want you to know how daddy and I will literally just sit and watch you play or sleep or breathe for hours, and will tell each other how amazing you are. I want you to understand that you literally are our world. This will not change once baby sister arrives, but I know that it will never be the same. We will still love you just as much and our love will only grow with the arrival of your sister, but it will never again be just the three of us. I am so thankful for this blog, and for the memories that I have recorded. I hope that one day you will look back on this time of our lives, and understand what an impact you have made on our hearts. I wish beyond wish that you could remember our morning snuggles (you always roll to my side and basically push me off the bed, but I do not mind). I wish you could remember how you run up to us and we lift you in our arms and hug you so tight. I wish you would be able to remember our play dates, our days around the house, how you snuggle so well when you do not feel good etc etc etc. I am so thankful to God for this time that he has given us with just you, and I am so excited for the future days as well. I love you so much my little 18 month old boy.
At 18 months you are:
Sleeping: In your toddler bed. You have been sick a lot this month so you have spent a lot of time in our bed. You occasionally try to get out of your toddler bed, but you just come to the door of your room, knock, whine a little, and then you go and lay back down. You still go to bed around 9:30 and wake up around 8. You come to our bed in the morning to snuggle and drink your milk. You are taking 1-2 naps a day. Depending on what we have going on that day.
Eating: You are becoming more and more picky. Things you used to love you now will not touch. I am having to sneak veggies in meals, and you are picky about what fruit you will eat now. Oh toddler hood.
Size: You did weight 25 but you lost 1 lb when you were sick. I know you have gotten a lot taller, but I am not sure how tall you are right now. You are still wearing 18-24 month clothing and size 4 shoes. You are also still in a size 4 diaper. You have thinned out a lot!
Speech: New words you said this month S***, shut, juice. You still do not really talk.
Exciting New Things:
Love you sweet boy!!

Exciting New Things:
- You pick up on signs so quickly now. You learned please and thank you in a day. You are good about signing "more" when you want to eat, and you also sign "all done" all the time. You can sign diaper change and hurt as well, but you do not always do these.
- You literally understand everything. I am amazed daily by the words you understand. Heater was one of the most surprising to me. I asked you to come with me to start your heater for bed, and you ran to it, bent down, put your hands in front of it and blew. :). So cute.
- You blow on all your food now.
- You chase Bella all around the house.
- You run to the door when I say dada is home, and you watch the big truck drive away when he leaves in the morning.
- You love to stand on our bed and look out the window at the doggies.
- You are finally overcoming sickness.
- You have 10 teeth now. 2 of your molars came in this month.
- You are still into separation anxiety but you are getting better.
- At play groups when you want me you will always come up to me and back up into my lap and sit down.
- You can put your own hat on.
- You like to walk into the house beside me now instead of being carried.
- You like to try to brush the pretty babies teeth in the mirror
- You love to help fold laundry, and sweep the floors.
- You walk in circles a lot now.
- You are in desperate need of your next haircut
- You sit at a big boy table to eat at home now
- You generally sit in a booster seat at a restaurant now
Love you sweet boy!!

37 Weeks
Still no bundle...I have to admit that the doctors had me all kinds of excited last week. I mean I honestly thought I would go into labor before my appointment this week. However, the appointment came and went, and bundle is still taking permanent residence in my womb. :(. I'm kind of ready to meet her I am not going to lie.
When I arrived at my appointment this week with Caleb in tow the waiting room was PACKED. I was for sure we would be there for forever, and so I began preparing Caleb for a long wait. Of course he was to entertained sitting in his own seat, and flirting with a pregnant woman across from us to really care. They began calling mamas back for urine samples, and then they would have them come back to the waiting room to sit. When they called my name I assumed that was what they were going to do with me as well. However, I literally waited for about 5 minutes, they called me back, and they took me straight to an exam room. The nurse looked at my chart and said "You haven't gone into labor yet??". I guess they rushed me back thinking I was a ticking time bomb. Anyway, they weighed me (total weight gain 23 lbs), took my blood pressure, and checked me. I am the same as last week :(. 3 centimeters and about 80-85% effaced. I bled again, and the doctor said I should still go before my 38th week, but that we will just have to wait and see. Ughhh.
I am still cramping a lot at night, and I feel as though bundle is pushing down constantly. I feel pressure all day every day. I was a hormonal mess yesterday. I went through so many highs and lows that hubby and I had to laugh about it last night. My post last night with old pics of Caleb sent me over the edge, because he is 18 months old today, and he growing way to fast. I literally tried to avoid all phone conversations yesterday because I was so hormonal that the smallest statement would make me almost loose it. Ughh. I am better today, but I was kind of hoping that all those hormonal waves would send me into labor.
So, I read last night in What to Expect that I have actually already completed the early stage of labor. This goes to 3 centimeters. WOW. So now it is just a question as to when real labor will begin.
I think this is my plan...If I do not go before my appointment Wed, I am going to ask the doctor if he will go ahead and strip my membranes. I am so far along in dialation, that I hope he will be okay with doing this a week early. At that appointment I want to go ahead and schedule an induction just incase the stripping does not work. As much as I want to naturally go into labor with lil miss and experience that, I do not want to go past my due date. In fact it is not an option. I am just ready to meet her if you can not tell :). Oh and I am done being prego. I am excited to be able to move, breathe, and play with lil man again like normal..but I still have my fears of labor and delivery.
Here is a pic of us at 37 weeks....hopefully this will be the last belly pic.....we shall see....she may be stubborn like her mama.....

Never....
Your little hands wrapped around my finger and it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause your dreaming
Tuck you in turn on your favorite nightlight
To you everything is funny
You have got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have honey
If you could stay like that
Oh darlin don't you ever grow up
don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh darlin don't you ever grow up
don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple.
I won't let nobody hurt you
Won't let no one break your heart
No one will desert you
Just try to never grow up
We Have Conquered
As you saw from my last post lil man has been a little under the weather lately. Basically since Christmas we have been fighting one illness after another. However, this past week was the worse. On Thursday I noticed that his cough that he had from a previous illness was getting worse, and so I called the doctor and got him in. Thankfully, the doctor heard nothing in his lungs, but he did realize that Caleb had his very first ear infection and a throat infection as well. He prescribed amoxicillan and told me that the cough would continue as well due to all the drainage.
So, I left the doctor thinking we had everything figured out, and I was excited for a fun girly weekend with friends. Nick had big plans for daddy son days with Caleb, and I just knew they were going to have so much fun. Unfortunately over the weekend Caleb just kept getting worse and worse. He was coughing to the point of vomiting, running a fever, not eating, not playing, was very clingy, and kept waking up crying. It was so sad and miserable. When he was still this way on Monday I called the doctor and they told me to bring him in asap. As soon as we got into the room they weighed Caleb (he lost 1 lb in 5 days), took his temp, and called the doctor in. The doctor sent us immediately to urgent care for lab tests and chest x-rays, and informed me that if his electrolyte count came back low he would have to be admitted to the hospital for IV's.
Thankfully, he was not dehydrated, but his chest x-rays did show pneumonia in his lungs. The next morning we had to travel back to the doctor for treatment. They did a respiratory and heart rate check on him, gave him a strong shot of antibiotics, and switched his antibiotic as well. They told me to come back the following morning unless he got worse over night.
That day he was still very clingy, and did not want to play or eat. I was having to give him Pedialyte through a medicine dropper. However, that night our little man came back. I left to go to a mommy group and hubby stayed with Caleb. When I got home he informed me that Caleb ate SEVEN chicken nuggets, cheese, pickle, and drank his pedialyte!! WOO HOO. I am not usually so excited about him eating chicken nuggets, but at that point anything he would take I was thankful for.
The next morning I took him to the doctor. He was smiling, laughing, eating, drinking and being normal again. His respiratory test came back way better than the day before, and he had no fever!! The doctor and I decided that he seemed to be good to go.
So we are continuing antibiotic and pushing the fluids, but he is doing so much better. He is not contagious, and is allowed to live as normal, and I am so thankful to have my baby back. I just kept praying during all of this that Mckinlee would stay put until big bro was better. Could you imagine the emotional breakdown this mama would have had??
So we conquered the pneumonia as of now, and I am so thankful for modern medicine, and a doctor who actually knows what they are doing!!
Here is a random pic from months ago that my sis posted on facebook...I kind of love it. Yes I know my belly looks a little chunky but this was the beginning stages of pregnancy, where you don't look pregnant yet just a little flabby.
