7 weeks

This week our baby is the size of a blueberry. The baby has new brain cells forming at the rate of 100 cells per minute, the mouth, tongue, and arm and leg buds are forming this week. The babies kidneys are now in place, and are ready to begin working.
It is so amazing, that this little blessing is growing so much each week. I can not believe that something so tiny already has a beating heart, working kidneys, brain cells, arms etc. I am so in love already. It is so funny because the widget picture of my baby to most would look like an alien, but to me it is so beautiful to look at. I get so excited to see how the widget picture of the baby changes from week to week. I already find myself rubbing my belly and praying for my little one. I can not wait to feel the baby move, hear its heatbeat, have it hear my voice, and finally see it in August. This is definetely going to be the longest nine months of my life as I await our little one's arrival. I thought it was hard last year waiting for the wedding, but this does not even compare.
We have picked an OB-GYN group of doctors, who are affiliated with Saint Elizabeth hospital here in Northern Kentucky. My first appointment is January 13 at 8 am. I am so excited for the ultrasound that it does not even bother me that the appointment is so early. I am anxious to see my baby, speak with the doctor about my concerns of pregnancy, and I pray that the doctor can assure us that our baby is healthy, and growing at the right rate.
Another thing I am completely excited about is the baby bump. I know I still have another month or two before I am showing, but Nick and I are taking weekly pictures of my stomach to see the progression. I am excited about the moments when I will realize there is really a baby in there. I know the ultrasound will prove that, and the baby bump definetely will. This is such an amazing journey.
This week for Christmas we are staying in Northern Kentucky and celebrating with Nick's family. We have been alternating every other holiday between families. The 26th we are leaving for Pikeville and will celebrate with my family. I am so excited to see my little nieces. The youngest is now 8 months, and she is so adorable. In case I do not post or see any of you till then MERRY CHRISTMAS. Nick and I are traveling to West Virginia for New Years to celebrate with one of my best friends from KCU and her husband. I have included a picture of us from KCU. I am soo excited to see my close friends, we really do not get to see each other enough. Please continue to keep Nick, the baby and I in your prayers, and I pray for all of you as you travel for Christmas.

Hello everyone. So a friend of mine from high school started a blog posting about her pregnancy, and I have found it very interesting to read, and see what things she has been going through. I am going to be a little bit of a copy cat and do the same thing in my journey through this pregnancy. Right now I am 6 weeks pregnant, and the expected due date of the baby is August 9, 2009. This has been an exciting year for Nick and I, filled with the wedding and the recent move to Northern Kentucky. If you would have asked me on my wedding day when I thought I would first get pregnant I would have said no sooner than next summer. However, I guess God had other plans.
During thanksgiving break I began to think that I was pregnant. The following Monday I was in Lexington overnight for classes, and I was staying with some friends. That night I took a pregancy test but it came back negative so I put the idea of being pregnant out of my mind. However, by that Friday I still had no sign of not being pregnant, and I decided to take another test. We were going out for my friends birthday that night, and Nick and I were getting ready. I took the test, went to my room to get dressed, talked to Nick, and then walked back to the bathroom to fix my hair. I honestly had not thought anything of the test because the one earlier in the week had been negative. When I looked down and saw two lines I lost my breath!! I ran to the other room and showed Nick the test and we both just looked at eachother. I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, scream. I was soo excited, but also so scared. It was an amazing experience. I took two more tests after that to be sure. We could not keep our news a secret, and quickly everyone knew. My dad was the last to know because I wanted to tell him in person, and did not get the chance to see him until last weekend.
This is an overwhelming ride. I have not felt sick as of yet. Last week I had one day of nausea, but I think it was from a virus that was going around the preschool I am currently working at, and not related to morning sickness. At times I have to convince myself that there is really a baby in my belly because it does not seem real as of yet. Nick and I are currently choosing an OB-GYN, and I can not wait to have my first ultrasound, hear the heart beat, and see my little baby even though it will look like a seed. Nick and I have played the ring and string game, and it says that we are having a boy so we will see what happens. As of now I just pray for my little babies health and safety.
I have uploaded a picture from our wedding this past July, and our Christmas card picture. The doggy is our baby girl Bella Gardella. She is one, and I am mildly obsessed with her. We just got a new puppy, and we named her Sydney. I will post pictures of her soon.
